Where can I park? You can park anywhere on the gravelled area in front of the garage or inside the garage. Please do not park on the grass. The key for the garage is on the set of house keys. There is no remote for the garage. However, you can open the roller door (only the right hand side when looking at the garage from the outside). There is a small black box inside the garage on the wall opposite the entry door with a small button – press this to open/close. Is there wifi? The WiFi name is ‘beachstonehouse’ and the password is ‘PEACHTORTS33’ all case sensitive. Wifi is complimentary but Noosa North Shore is isolated which means that our only internet option is using an NBN satellite which is not superfast and is expensive. Is there mobile coverage or a land line? There is no land line to the property. Again, Noosa North Shore is isolated so our mobile coverage is patchy. We have found that the main house master bedroom is ok but the rest of the house is hit and miss for Optus and Telstra (we dont know about Vodaphone). If you are desperate, head towards the main gate where reception is usually fine. Where do I put rubbish and recycling? Place all rubbish and recycling in the correct bins located at the main gate. If the bins are full, please take any excess rubbish or recycling with you. |
What is the grey sprinkler line for coming out of the green box at the back of the house? Kids, especially, will go exploring as soon as they arrive and seem to gravitate to this line! However, it is a discharge sprinkler from the septic tank and periodically sprays out treated (but still smelly effluent) water onto the garden for fertilising the grass. If someone comes to you a little damp with a slight smell of pooh it is probably the result of being sprayed with this line! Jump in the shower and/or the pool - repeat as necessary! It's best to give this sprinkler line a wide berth! How do I open the windows in the main house ceiling? You will find a very long pole in the garage with a small hook on the end. You can use this to open (very carefully!) and close the windows in the rook of the main house lounge/dining room. How do I avoid ants? This is Queensland, the tropics and you will see ants! You can minimize the appearance of the little things by ensuring that you do not leave any food scraps or dirty dishes in the kitchen. You will find insect spray under the kitchen sink. Cleaning liquids If for any reason you run out of cleaners and need to stock up, please make sure they're grey water/septic tank safe. 'Normal' chemical cleaners will bring the septic tank to a grinding (and smelly!) halt. You can find re fills for any empty cleaners in the local supermarkets. |
Soap and Shampoo For the sake of our septic tank, please only use the soap, shampoo and conditioner provided in each bathroom. Septic Tank WE CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! The house has a septic tank system please do not place anything in the drains or toilets other than water, toilet paper and bodily waste! Fats, oil, tampons, nappies, baby wipes etc. will clog up the system and must not be placed in toilets or drains. The system will block in a matter of minutes and you will be charged for the unblocking of the system (and this usually is a 24 hour and very smelly wait! Children and potential hazards Please keep a special eye on children especially on decks, the swimming pool (don’t put anything climbable near the pool fence), around the dams and in the garden. Australian native animals They are uncommon but the usual Australian mix of spiders and snakes are native to the bush around the property and must be treated with a wide berth! Our resident kangaroo mob will give people a wide berth usually but they are not tame and it is best to let kids know that they are ‘look don’t touch’ animals! Is the property fenced? We are very proud to say that Beach Stone House has no fences (outside the front gate) and the grounds blend seamlessly into the bush in the National Park that surrounds. However, the bush is pretty impenetrable so it is like a huge fence! |
There are few do’s and PLEASE do not’s! We try and keep this list to a minimum and rely on ‘Karma’ and good sense from our guests! However, some absolute rules:

We are not happy about something! We are here to help but can only do that if you contact us as soon as you find something that needs resolving. We do not appreciate people who wait until its too late for us to anything about it and then complain or leave a bad review. Often we can resolve the issue if given the opportunity. There is a smell! Occasionally the septic tank effluent pipe discharge smell will waft towards the house - it does not happen often and when it does will dissipate quickly. There is no water coming out of the taps! Once in a blue moon our water tanks dry up. If there is no water, please call us ASAP. We can arrange for a water tanker to fill up the tanks usually the same day. There is no electricity! We are mains electricity but if there is a power outage please check the fuses first. There are 3 fuse boxes: 1 in the wardrobe of the main bedroom, 1 in the right hand large cupboard in the west wing and 1 at the bottom of the pole in the garden bed next to the parking area. NEVER touch any wires that are down. Call us if checking the fuses does not work. What do we do in a bush fire? It is essential that you contact the emergency services and follow all directions from them. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIGHT A FIRE! Torrential rain has flooded the lawn! In a tropical storm, when there is 200 mm or more of rain, some of the front lawn can retain water. This runs off quickly but avoid the area if you can. |
Who do we call in an emergency? For the sake of our septic tank, please only use the soap, shampoo and conditioner provided in each bathroom. Owners
